In God's Trust

Do You Know Where You Are Heading?

Headlines, such as “The Coming Economic Disaster” are very much common place given the debt and ever-increasing government assistance that is being handed out to more and more people over the past few years.  It is not rocket science.  We know where this is all leading - an eventual economic collapse.  But this is reality of the short run, here on earth.  What should really concern us is the question: Do we know where we are heading in the long run?  I do.  Without a doubt.  Do you?

It is true that there is an economic storm awaiting on the horizon and America is in its cross hairs.  What can we do?  Probably nothing at this point.  When this impending economic disaster does strike, all Americans will be affected.  Much of our money and accumulations will disappear and our current way of life will change dramatically.  Even though it is not wrong to be prosperous, it may now be the time that we stop being so much concerned about accumulating personal wealth that it distracts us from what is most important - our families and a secure future in Heaven.

I have met so many people where the drive to gain great prosperity has driven wedges between themselves and their spouses.  The need to achieve overshadows the need to believe in a God that will provide for them if only they would place their trust in Him; inquiring of Him concerning all things regarding their money; their careers; their daily lives in general and their futures in particular.

Family relationships should never be traded for the lust of wealth because there just isn’t any comparison between the two.  Any riches that we may possess could never be worth more than the tiniest hair on even the lowliest of people.  Human life is valuable and God loves each and every one.  He desires their repentance and acceptance of Him.  So, at all times and under all circumstances choose to be kind to each other.  It really is a choice.  Choose to be patient with those that make different choices than yourself without becoming annoyed as husbands, wives and children often do with each other.  Learn to communicate your concerns with love and kindness.  Choose to be faithful to God, spouse and children.

Some say to live for today and not to worry about what tomorrow will bring.  I say to live like there is a tomorrow, because it is true.  A person’s entire future is determined every day by the choices that he makes – today.  So, choose today and everyday what your future will be.  Ultimately if it does not lead to Heaven, then the daily choices that you have made were wrong.  So, choose wisely and always seek God’s guidance for He says that if you acknowledge Him in all your ways He shall direct your paths.  If we do so then we can be sure that all of the good or bad circumstances that we find ourselves in will ultimately work for some kind of good for those that love God.

Life can be harsh and for some, even Christians, it can prove to be very difficult.  At present, in various regions of our planet, there is occurring the largest genocide of Christians that has ever happened in history.  This will only become worse as darker days are ahead for believers in Christ.  Yet, even under such terrifying circumstances, these martyrs truly are living like there is a tomorrow – one that is in Heaven.  Their earthly wealth and possessions mean nothing.  They have realized that the only real choice to make is the one that brings them closer to God.  These people truly believe in the words: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:35-37)

As for me, I have a confidence that there is a future awaiting me that is far and above anything that I could ever imagine.  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1 Corinthians 2:9).  Therefore, I can boldly give my life over to Him with a trust resembling that of a child looking up to my father for my security, even in hard times, because I know where I am heading.

Do you know where you are heading?  If not, then you must realize that you are guilty of breaking God’s Laws and that you have sinned against a Holy God.  For God says that,  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one... (Romans 3:10).  It is true.  No one is innocent.  Therefore, you must ask forgiveness from the One who chose to die for those very same sins.  By His own death on the cross at Calvary, Jesus paid the penalty for your sins whereby you can now be exonerated from any future judgment, condemnation and Hell.  By repenting of your sins and turning away from what God calls sin; asking for His forgiveness; choosing to accept Jesus as your Savior; you are then assured of a life for eternity in Heaven.

Remember, what you choose today affects all days ahead of you.  This one choice that you make today determines your entire future for you are choosing your final and eternal destination of either Heaven or Hell.  Make the right choice - Jesus.  You will then be sure of where you are truly heading in this life - toward Heaven and the treasures that you will have laid up there.  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Matthew 6:19-21).

Always remember that life is short and Hell is real.  Make the right choice.
