In God's Trust

     In Whom Do You Trust?

A friend recently confided in me that he had become very depressed and has remained so since the presidential elections.  He just cannot understand why God would allow someone other than Donald Trump to have been elected, especially since he had truly helped America to prosper during his tenure.  I got the impression that there was a wavering in faith at that point, not critically, but enough that this whole political situation has genuinely rattled him to his core.  He stated that he believes Jesus will return one day, but he confesses that he really does not study nor attempt to understand prophecy.  Having heard that, I understood immediately the nature of the problem.

So many professing, Bible believing Christians completely ignore anything that sounds like end times prophecy, or, really, prophecy of any kind as in past fulfilled events.  Yet, the Bible is nearly 30% prophetic in nature and skipping or ignoring these passages is nearly impossible - if you actually study the Bible in the first place.  Yet, it seems, those that do encounter these scriptures simply gloss over or, worse yet, merely allegorize them into meaningless symbolism.  I have been stopped in mid-sentence, being told that they really don’t know and do not want to hear anything regarding Revelation events – as they can’t really be understood in the first place.  Clearly, they did not even understand that Revelation was not the only book in the Bible that contained prophecy.

God, from Genesis through Revelation, deliberately told us of future events in order to encourage us and to show us that He truly is the one and only true God.  Our own history of past, foretold prophecies that were completely and 100% fulfilled should leave no doubt in the minds of anyone as to the accuracy of God’s Word.  Those individuals who have become depressed are in such a state solely because they have not listened to what God is telling them regarding their future.  They focus on one thing, Jesus is coming back one day, but totally disregard the signs leading up to that event.  Yes, there are many future prophetic signs in the Bible, and they can be understood.  If you live this life ignoring those signs, then you cannot understand why and what is happening with regard to our nation, world economies, political and geo-political movements, natural disasters, pandemics – basically anything and everything.  One result of this willful ignorance is that the mere loss of a presidential election can leave you feeling blindsided, as if God Himself has somehow failed.

Our comfort is in knowing the future via God's Word.  We can discern events and trends in the light of what God has already told us will happen.  There is an actual timeline drawn out in scripture that began at creation and extends to where eternity begins after the millennium.  God gave this to us as an outline of history past, present and future.  Those who are wise in His Word can nearly pinpoint where we are on that timeline.  To the day or the hour?  No.  But as events on this timeline fall into their respective positions, the final setting of the stage, which is the end of the end times events, becomes ever clear in our prophetic sight.  God has given us a clear description of the end times stage.  We have been and currently are in the stage-setting process.  By knowing how the final stage is set, we can easily understand the past, current, as well as the future events that need to occur in order for that stage to be set correctly.

Just imagine, a whole world of historical events leading to one climatical event – and it was all written down in the pages of the Bible as future prophecy.  The uncalculatable number of movements by peoples and nations throughout history to eventually wind up in the exact scenario laid out for us in the Bible seems statistically impossible.  Yet, here we are on the home stretch where the fulfilment of prophecy is occurring all around us.  We have entered the convergence phase of stage setting where time is short, and many events are beginning to come together all at once, and very rapidly.  This is a well-known phenomenon in large event planning where, as the date approaches, everything seems a total mess with no hope of completion.  Yet the planner always knows that a last minute and very rapid explosion of actions will occur as everything all comes together for completion.

So, how is it that so many are missing it!  Why are so many feeling blindsided by current events? Christians, study the Bible, prophecy included, and don’t become depressed.  Ask God to reveal His Word and His plans, helping you to recognize where we are in human and Biblical history, and be, therefore, encouraged.  God in the Bible says that when we see all these things begin to happen, look up for our redemption draws near.  Of course, we don’t know when the Rapture will happen.  We don’t know if we, as Christians, are going to be caught up in any pre-Rapture national judgments from God.  We can see that this nation is headed in that direction.  Yet, we do know for sure that we will not enter the Seven Year Tribulation.  We will leave before then as God says that we are not appointed to that hour of His wrath.

So, my response to my friend was to not place too much of his faith in any political leader to save us or our nation.  There will one day arise a great politician and the whole world will fall for his deceit with disastrous consequences.  Instead, trust God.  I helped him understand why a man such as Trump was elected to office in the first place, as well as his accomplishments that related to Bible prophecy.  Also, I explained why he was not re-elected and the goals that our new administration is leading our country toward, as it relates to future Bible prophecy.  God is in charge and our futures are in His capable hands.  We may not like the situations that we find ourselves in from day to day, but we can and do know the end of all these things.  So, look up, and be encouraged for we know that Jesus is near.
