Prophecy and Spiritual Preparedness

Don’t be ignorant of nor ignore the Signs of the Times.  There has been occurring over the past several years a noticeable collective convergence of end times signs - and the pace seems to be accelerating.  Since the rebirth of Israel in 1948 there has been an explosion of events, i.e., political, religious, geopolitical, economic, technological, etc., that has been perfectly setting up the end times scenario described by several prophets in the Old Testament as well as New Testament apostles – including Jesus Himself.  God does not want anyone to be blindsided when the Tribulation events begin to occur.  He wants people to watch and to be ready.  He wants people to read and to diligently study the scriptures in order to recognize the times that we are living in and to always be prepared spiritually for tribulations/persecutions, death or His coming.  Jesus said, Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:32-35).

The 2nd book of Peter chapter 3, below, admonishes us in very clear terms to always be mindful of the words of the prophets which were written in the Bible.  We are not to be so caught up in living that we ignore scripture and therefore are not prepared for end times events when they take place.  We are not to be skeptical of the authenticity or reality of His Words.  Be ready.  Be ready in your hearts, minds, body and soul.  Live in a manner such that you are not ashamed, realizing that God is ever present, seeing all that you do - even the intents of your very heart.  Study God’s Word so that you will not be blindsided by events that you should already know will occur.

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:  Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen (2 Peter 3:1-18).

God’s Word has warned us throughout the Bible that there is a coming end to this present Earth.  Yet, regardless of that reality, death is and has always been a certainty.  We are all dying with an eternal outcome of either Hell or Heaven.  Because of the sin in our lives we are actually condemned already to judgment and Hell.  We cannot deny that we have all broken the Laws of God at some point in our lives.  However, Jesus, because of His tremendous love for you and I, descended from His throne in Heaven to be born as a man, flesh and blood, in order to become a sacrifice for our very own sins.  All of the wrongs that we have ever done or will do were laid to His charge as He hung on that cross.  All that is required of you is to wholeheartedly repent and turn away from sin asking His forgiveness and accepting Him as Lord of your life.  He will then lead you into His Kingdom when the time comes.

Therefore, knowing the awful price that He paid in order to save us from the fires of Hell, don’t then be so ungrateful that you deliberately dive back into sin at the first opportunity.  Study the Bible, pray and always repent of any further transgressions.  Share God’s Word with others, testify of your faith and ...sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear... (1 Peter 3:15).
