Final Coordinates

Do you know the address of your current destination?  “Why,” you might say, “I am not going anywhere.”  Don’t be so sure.  We are all on a journey to a final destination and we need to be completely certain of the coordinates of that address.  Conventional roads can often times lead a person on a path that is snakelike in its twists and turns.  We can be led for miles in the wrong direction before finally ending up where we had intended.  There can be confusion and wrong turns because of all the unmarked intersecting highways along the way.  Getting lost is quite easy which most everyone has experienced at some point in their lives.  Wouldn’t it be nice to always be on a straight, narrow, decisive course that always leads you to where you really want to be?  Wouldn’t it be nice if life could offer up such a method for daily living?

Being a pilot, I have come to absolutely love one of our generation’s recent technological advances – the Global Positioning System.  Every spot on this planet has an associated set of coordinates or an address.  In this case it is a set of numbers that can be easily triangulated, located and downloaded by satellite very accurately to a personal handheld device called a GPS.  It not only tells the user the exact address to their intended destination, it also “Points” them in the exact direction to travel.  If the person decides to stray off course for one reason or another to head in a different direction, they are still provided with a bearing line straight from their original position along with a pointer to guide them back to their true course.  Even most “Old time” pilots who relied solely on compasses for navigating are very grateful for the invention of the GPS.

So, again, what is the address of your life’s final destination?  Do you know?  This answer should be easy to make since there are only two actual answers – the address for the Gate to Heaven and the address for the Gate to Hell.  That’s it.  There is none other.  Which gate are you headed for?  What type of road are you following?  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it (Matthew 7:13-14).  God told us with no uncertainty that taking the wrong road in life will lead to only one place and that is Hell.  However, that road is the easiest to follow because it is wide and the destination is very large and not hard to miss.  If we were to pilot our planes like that we would not even need a GPS let alone a map.  We would just fly in some general direction and let the wind blow us however it wants to and we would still end up where we were heading because the destination was so huge.  It would be sort of like heading in the general direction of West from Nevada in order to land in California.  You would probably run into California but where?  Who knows?  However, what if you wanted to fly to a specific destination such as a small little town in California?   Could you fly with such sloppiness and find that town?  If you did not first prepare by taking into account the winds that you would be encountering on your journey and then calculating an appropriate wind correction angle in order to find a correct heading to follow, you would probably end up in California but no doubt no where near your intended destination.  If you used a GPS you would merely need to crab or angle your plane in the appropriate direction in order to remain on your bearing line.  Straight is that line which leads to your tiny destination.

Only by being prepared can you follow such a path and end up where you really want to be.  Heaven is that place but it takes a conscience effort to stay on the right road in order to find it easily.  Of course everyone in reality strays from the path at times.  Mankind just cannot keep from falling off of the right track and into sin quite often.  However, God is ever faithful to not let any of His children stay lost for all of eternity and end up in Hell.  A long time ago He provided us with a book called the Bible.  It is our map, our GPS that lets us know where we are heading and how to get our bearings back when we stray too far off course.  It is the very Word of God and powerful in its content and wisdom.  Many try to change its meaning to fit the road they are currently using.  That would be like moving California on the “map” so that you could find it even if you were heading in the opposite direction.  Truth just cannot be changed that way.  The Bible is Truth and changing it in any way to fit our needs would be wrong.  It technically cannot be done.

Submit to God’s will in your lives and follow His truth and He will not let you remain lost.  Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ with all of your heart and all of your soul.  Walk according to His Will according to His Words which are located only in the Bible.  Consult with Him on every move that you make and have faith that He will guide you along the correct path.  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones (Proverbs 3:5-8)Let the Lord lead you down that straight, narrow course to your final destination.  If you trust Him and let Him lead you as if you were a baby being led down the road by your Father you will be taken care of because He definitely cares for you.  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you (1 Peter 5:7)Just let Him.

Your Decision to Receive Christ as Your Savior:

Confess to God that you are a sinner.  Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross and was raised for your justification.  Receive and Confess Him as your personal Savior.

Assurance As a Believer:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9).
